(crowd cheering) Tell you a little story about this next tune.
I told this story one time in Wichita, Kansas.
Everybody looked at me like I had two heads.
I was a- I was taking a walk real late after a- a late fight with my ex-girlfriend.
I was walking around- around Printer's Alley and I came across this fella, with a shopping cart full of old cans and whatnot and he turned around and looked at me and he didn't have any face.
I was not on any drugs and I was not on- I was not on anything.
I just witnessed something that I can't explain on this world.
So when helping my buddy Angelo, and my buddy Dan, we wrote this next number about that scary night, and it's got a really catchy little, you know, major-y sounding chorus, which is nice way to describe such a terrifying event.
But it's a number called "Dark Cloud."

♪ I figure since we're gonna put this on television, go ahead and set the story straight on this song.
I didn't write this song about South Carolina, or North Carolina for that matter.
I wrote this song, I wrote it from the perspective of a buddy of ours, and the last time I saw him actually was here in Nashville at the Marathon Music venue over there.
And he was a tour manager for Dark Star Orchestra.
You know that group?
(crowd cheering) He was a really beautiful cat.
He was a great guy.
His name was Matt Reynolds and he had- Curfew, was his nickname.
Colonel Bruce Hampton gave him that nickname.
And yeah, we love the Colonel.
So I wrote this song from his perspective.
I was in a hotel room in France, somewhere in France, and I saw this apparition of our buddy.
He had taken his own life, you know, about a month before that.
And I saw him in my hotel room and it's another story where I was completely sober, but I saw him and I felt his energy there and I sat down and started writing, and this song came through.
So I really feel like I co-wrote this song with my buddy Matt Reynolds.
So I'll play it for you now.
But this is a song that I wrote through him or he wrote through me, one way or another.
A song called "Goodbye Carolina."
