♪ In Tune ♪ (comb crackling) (text whooshing) (text buzzing) (text beeping) - Vibration creates sound and sound creates music.
- And music is powerful on so many levels.
- And you know what else is powerful?
Education and our awesome teachers out there.
We appreciate each and every one of you.
And we're gonna talk to one of y'all right now.
Mrs. P. (graphics whooshing) So Mrs. P, Mrs. Samantha Puterbaugh.
I'm working on that name.
- You got it.
- I got it this time around.
We're working on wrapping up the series, and we want to keep this discussion going.
We wanna keep everything going.
How do we keep kids interested in music and keep encouraging them to do so?
- Mm-hmm.
I could talk about this all day.
But to keep it short, it's really important to, number one, support music education in our schools and make sure it stays a part of our schools, and support all of our teachers who are working to do so.
And then also making sure that we celebrate children in their progress and not perfection, because there's no need for them to be perfect.
They need to just enjoy and experience.
And I think that's what keeps them going and moving ahead instead of feeling pressured.
And I think that that is gonna be really important for them as they grow.
And in giving them an opportunity to experience music in many ways.
What are we listening to?
What are we listening to in the car?
Are we going to see performances?
Just giving them so many opportunities to experience music and find out what they love about it.
- Yeah, yeah, and just reminding them, it exists, reminding them about school bands.
You know, we talk a lot about instruments in our series.
These are all instruments that we introduce in the series that the kids can go play in their school band.

- See what sticks, see what's- - Find a music store.
Yep.
- Oh my goodness.
- [Samantha] There's so many opportunities.
- Yeah, just keep telling kids about 'em and keep encouraging it.
And like you said, the most important thing is making it a positive experience.
- Exactly.
- Have fun with it.
We're having fun with it.
- Mm-hmm.
- We're still having fun with it.
- Still having fun.
- We went to school together.
- We went to high school together.
- And we're now still in a school together.
- Right.
- Because we both love music.
And you guys do too.
Thanks for hanging out with us.
Mrs. P is an awesome educator, just like all of you.
And we hope our series helps bolster an interest in these valuable topics.
- We wanna continue to support our educators however we can.
